The hull of the 1:10 Yamato in Kure, Japan, is massively impressive, but the odd thing is that there are no deliberate seams of any kind. It's as though the builders meant to ignore any hint of plates. If anyone can explain why, especially given the amazing amount of detail everywhere else, I'd love to hear it.

I'm not sure exactly why the photos suddenly appeared, but I'm thinking there are quite a few in a single post, and I made them as high in resolution as the rules allow. That makes them take a while to load into your computer's cache. For those who don't already know, you can click on any of them to see a larger image.

Even so, a welded seam is still visible, isn't it? Maybe not so much at a distance, but in this case, although the simulated welds would have been 1/10 the size of actual welds, standing next to the hull, the welds would have been visible, wouldn't they? Take a look at this photo of Yamato under construction. It's not a clear shot of the hull, but the seams appear to be visible, even so:
