Any Gun runners tonight Mark?    ok2

Fell asleep in sofa after dinner so can't sleep now.... as usual.

Now?
Researching a new camera and watching cockpit videos on Utube like these:

http://youtu.be/Z0ZrsffA3y0

.... Look easy, I could do that!

Right now, obviously, reading up on all the interesting threads on Mayhem.  Also looking at the rain and wind outside, bemoaning that otherwise I'd be arriving at Black Park Lake about now to get some hulls wet.  I draw the line at wet upperworks though.

So, I need to make some progress on QD waterproof hatches for switches and charging sockets.  I am looking into resin casting the switch hatch from a plug made from sections of a Tesco food container.

Hi Bob k, you can buy a waterproof covering for a small switch fits over it like a wellington boot.  Fitted one to a yacht, if you see a recently new to the lake Libera Ocean on Black Park lake, have a look at the switch.

Im just finishing off an RC boat hull mould on the CNC router ,should be able to mould one later on tonight,  I havent made a boat for about 20 years , the last one was cardboard....powered with an Irvine 20 glow engine.....didnt last long before it sank in Sefton Park lake.

This one is a bit better, All plastic vac formed and laser cut parts, electric powered so its going to be a bit quieter.

I decided I need one for when I am in Bulgaria my house i stay in most times is near 2 giant lakes ( Koprinka and Zhrebchevo ) and the river Tundja running through one end of the villiage so theres plenty of water around , I now have a full size wooden fishing boat (with a lada engine....)  to fix for the summer when i go back over and I thought a model one was needed to use when sitting on the boat in the middle of the lake.

I Myself am also reading up ,got a very unusual clock ,made for R N in 1920 ,thing is its in bits and has three subsidery dials ,moon ,day/date ,mechanism  is really clever ,have got a chap in the States helping me , but the platform escapement has to be repaired and I, am not that clever   this is a very convincing big brass clock ,never seen the style before ,but it is listed ,any spares will have to be made ,so this is it ,quite the little   brain teaser .. %%

Dave

The hull and deck mould are even made from our glue , i cast a giant block of 1 hour epoxy resin, now its being machined by the router , one big lump of epoxy to cast with no bubbles...(almost) .I put it in the vac former with a sheet of steel on top to suck the bubbles out.

Its a lot of time machining to make the mould.... 8 hours and its still going! at this rate it might be moulded by next weekend , great if I want a second one as its so easy to form the parts not so quick for the first one

Im a bit sick of watching it going round and round chopping stinky epoxy dust off, so im sitting here anodising glue micro nozzles I made yesterday in different colours trying to decide which colour is best
