I know this is a old thread but I have an issue with the HK 30A Boat ESC.
When I start it up you have, accordingly to the manual, set the stick in full throttle position and after the 3 double bips move it to neutral and wait for the bip's to stop, done that and only have forward movement, tried the same but moved the stick full reverse still only forward movement, the moved the stick to full throttle after the 3 double bip's moved it to neutral after 1 bip set it to full reverse and I have now full forward and 25% reverse as programmed but there are no "slack" or pause between forward and reverse what the h.. do I do wrong ???

These units give three options.
1. forward, no reverse
2. forward, brake, then reverse
3. forward, or reverse
Option 2 requires you to pull stick fully down and then release to neutral ( that's braking in a car, but ineffective on a boat) , after braking reapply stick down and boat reverses.
Option 3 goes from forward to reverse without pause, allowing prop to act as brake. For your preference from stick up, you need to pause in neutral and then pull stick down for reverse.
These motors react with huge torque, only the brave use sudden stick movements.
