If you want to go for a really long drive, I suggest a quick trip around Australia - roughly 20,000 km, and all on sealed roads O0 It's a popular trip for retirees with their caravans (commonly referred to as Grey Nomads). Allow 3 - 6 months to see as much as possible.

Longest drive in UK, Aberdeen to London, and back the same night, left after work, (6pm) arrived back to start work (6am).
Longest drive (only comfort stops at the odd tree) in Aussie, was Kalgoorlie to Adelaide, straight thru, did it 3 times, in 2 years, not again.
Other longest, Townsville to Adelaide, only 4 hours sleep at Parke, in the car.
Back when young and silly.
Must be still in the blood though, as left midnight Christmas eve last, to go have Christmas dinner with my 90year old mum, and little sister, had dinner, washed the dishes, drove home.
Hamilton to Otaki, New Zealand. 6 hour trip each way.18 hour round trip.
cheers

ps, Peter friends of mine did that in their bus, planned on 12 months, arrived back 6 years later.

Hi John, there were stretches on that road that if you stood in the middle of it to relieve youself the only worry was the wife in the passenger seat LOL. Mick B.

Know the feeling, middle of dead straight road, middle of flat Nullabour Plain, no trees to hide behind, and only the odd wombat hole to relieve the miles and miles of flat pebble desert    {-)

It's the only way to see Australia and an eye opener at that. :-)) :-)) :-)) Also did conducted tours of the big open cuts and gorges of WA.
Family members working and living in WA, planning to do it again soon. O0 O0 O0
