Destroyer Escort Motors
« on: May 20, 2007, 04:25:31 pm »

HI All
I have a 1/48TH scale WW2 destroyer escort and I need some help with the motors  I had
2x 6v Hectaperms in it but they were useless. So I am looking for any recommendations for
what to change them with.
The model is 6Ft long with 3 bladed 50mm props

thanks
Colin

Go for MFA 800's on 12 volts, they rev about 4000 rpm.
I have these in my Sirmar 1/48 Hunt Destroyer and she handles fine.
The batteries are fine as ballast too, just about all you will need.

One of my mates has another Sirmar Hunt.
They were out sailing together, his is powered by 550 motors which struggle.
We sailed nicely in formation when I asked him if I should use my other shaft now!
When I pulled nicely away his face was a picture.
No the dont overpower her, his just a bit slow.

Any chance of some photos of your DE? I really like these ships and the Captains class frigates.

HI There,
the ship is the USS Jaccard. a Butler Class escort
It carried out testing in camouflage schemes and I chose one of these to
model it on I am afraid these pictures are out of date but once I have some new ones I will
