Eldergarth
« on: February 17, 2013, 03:53:49 pm »

Hi all,

Well after getting myself an Eldergarth, pre-built, I've sorted out some of the Wiring and given her a little sail this afternoon:

The boat did well overall, but as you might be able to make out, sits quite low in the water at her bow, so I think I need to get a lighter 12v battery and then just trim where needed.

Fully working, with Lights, working Winch, Bow Thruster and steerable korts as some of you will know.

The lights do work, but I only tested them quickly as I still need to set up the 6v system for them:

She shipped a bit of water earlier so something isn't quite watertight somewhere!  %)

I'll be taking it along to Ellesemere port, after which, she'll have a good revamp and repaint ready for better weather!

Comments welcomed  :-)

Hi Gav, apart from a quick paint job on the decks, it's stopping as it is for now.

Yeah I'm stopping for the Night sail no bother  :-))  It's ready to tow - ropes and whatever else are ready!

I have just got myself into sanding the outer bulwarks of my tug putting new paint job on it and fitting loads of tyres so it looks like the actual tug

Don't forget to get a 6v battery for those lights m8t or you will be drawing in light aircraft if you leave them on 12v  {-) {-) {-)

Re-painted the Afterdeck green again - but a better shade this time - tidied it up and it already looks a lot better. Just need to give the Forward Decks a good re-paint now and it'll look rather nice me thinks.
Red or Green for the forward decks? I think Red forward, Green Aft.

Leaving the Superstructure as it is - it looks like a working boat as the white paint has ever so slightly dulled. Question - is there a supplier who can do an "R" big enough for the logo? Or is it a plasticard job?

Either the above or I'm thinking I may go my own way with the colour scheme...thoughts?

Dave there will be no Booty shaking in this thread  %)   {-)  Just the subtle tones of Fleetwood Mac and some Blues/Rock guitar riffs from many legends like Dave Gilmour for example - that should get me through these boat builds!

Wondered when you might mention your new Tug Chris -  :-))  It's a nice looking tug mind.

Go for it Gav - do a Smit tug, don't see a lot around lately. Nice colour scheme I think.
