As beautiful as this model promises to become, I find that a scale of 1:50 or 1:48 would have suited it much better, especially for "sea trials" in a little undulated habitat.

This is how I made the radar drive, two small pulleys and a rubberband. The motor will be placed under the roof of the topdeck. Anyone know of a suitable silent geared motor? Tried some servo mods but they are a bit noisy.
All the best!

Thank you Dave, and thanks for that link too. How did you find that? It's more or less a summary of her career. I read somewhere that she's been laid up in Malaysia for some years.
All the best!
Hama
Actually she is laid up not far from me on the Thai Burmese border at Kawthong/Ranong , awaiting sale or scrap, she is laid up offshore and in a deteriorating state.

Hello!
It's a pity that she's not being taken care of, but then again she's an old vessel with her glory days long gone.
As for the radar, well I think it will be a 12v system in her.
All the best!

Some more done, lots of fittings to add still. Fake funnel and real funnel are now glued in position so time to do some more sea trials soon to establish correct amount of ballast.
All the best!

Hi Hama

I'm catching up with everything I was watching but missed over the last few months. You have been busy and what a nice looking model you have created.

Thank you Dave!
Well I had my doubts during the build, but it turned out quite ok in the end. She is a beautiful vessel wich is why I choose the kit in the first place. A lot more fittings to ad and some other things before she is done.
All the best!

Hello!
Just to say if anyone consider building one of these kits, please have a look here first!!
http://www.rex-schiffsmodelle.de/shop.php

Typical to find this after your done, a company that produce what looks like a far superior quality kit of a sister vessel. Grp hull and cnc cut styrene parts among other things, and the price seems competitive too.
Well well.

Haha, kind of sad don't you think! I must spend too much time surfing the net!
But I'm also amazed to see how much there is to find and I too liked the canal boat Wilhelm Tham. She's still trading the inland waterway between Stockholm and Gothenburg.
All the best!

Well, I've come quite far with adding lights. Nav lights are done apart from stern light. Interior lights and some of the deck lights also done. Will make some deck lights on the main deck and some work lights on the forecastle and above the gangways.
Also added more details to the masts and got the radar running, although I'll have to replace the radar motor as it's far to loud.
All the best!

Great photo - the 'lights from another dock' in the left background really add to the realism. :-))
