Atlantis AKA "Lady Marion"
« on: February 24, 2013, 02:42:04 pm »

Hi there, I have just finished my yearly maintenance on my Robbe Atlantis, which involved applying tung oil to the decks.
Earlier I  TCut the paintwork and re-waxed and she really shines now.

Hi Steve
She looks great on the water, thanks for posting the photos. Have you sailed with the Genoa up yet, I've seen lots of pics of these boats sailing but none with the Genoa.
I'm still sailing mine, I'll start again when the temperature rises a bit!
I'm going to the Show at Ellesmere Port next Saturday, any chance that you'll be there?

Yes Im waiting for the warmer weather, to be honest Brian the Genoa cost me around 150 pounds and it isn't worth it unless you are fitting it
right from the start, trying to do it as a retrofit is a complete nightmare.
I had mine running okay but every time it developed a problem. even down to the track warping in the hot weather.
In fact I took the winch out this weekend, I may use it one day.
I was thinking about using the winch towards having a winch for each set of sails, what do you think?
Yes would be nice to cross paths one day keep in touch.

Hi Steve
I'm not considering fitting a Genoa as a retrofit, it's just that I've heard unfavourable comments about this sail and was just wondering about your experience with it.
I personally wouldn't use another winch for the sails, one is fine, two may complicate matters, but the choice is yours.
Maybe our paths will cross one day, in the meantime I'll keep in touch.

Welcome,
Where in Canada are you? I had 3 months working in St John last year, I loved it.

I hope your enjoying the build? Theres alot of work but well worth the effort in the end,
Looking at your pictures I was wondering if you was happy with the  travel on your servos? Not that I am anywhere near an expert in these matters.
Any help or advice don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Steve:

In Cambridge, Ontario.

So far everything is coming together nicely, the instructions and the drawings had a few head scratching moments but eventually I figured most things out,

I do like to do my own thing on occasion (twin motors/ 3 sail winches etc...) for no other reason than "why not" %%

The hull is currently in my paint shop (basement)..the fist coat of gloss black applied.

Going to start drilling the masts shortly.

Back to the topic though....Marion looks really sweet :-))
