2,4 Ghz General Link
« on: March 11, 2013, 08:20:43 pm »

Hello!
I saw that "Nine Eagles" sell a device called "General Link". It is plugged into the trainer socket on your FM/AM transmitter and makes it into a 2,4Ghz tx to control their range of helis and planes. It cost about 30euro. Anyone know more about this, if it can be used to control any other brand of 2,4Ghz rx? If so it would be a very nice upgrade to your FM/AM sets but itīs probably too good to be true.
All the best!

What transmitter do you have?

I have a Futaba Skyport 6EX and am going to convert it to 2.4Ghz using a DIY module. I have found a web page describing the fitment of this module into my transmitter so will follow that but there are various other DIY modules available that will do the same thing.

You will to take the transmitter apart and do some soldering too.

A new compatible receiver is only Ģ20 so not a great expense to allow me to use up to 6 channels with mixing on the water.  :-)

Sorry, It's a T6x transmitter I have and here is how it's done.

Only thing that bothers me is the loss of the 4 foot long aerial on it! I like a huge antenna, The stubbly little 2.4Ghz one looks a bit feeble!  :-)

Just an update to the info I posted on this thread.

I have now completed the 2.4 Ghz conversion of my T6X Futaba transmitter and it was really quite easy to do. Did it all with minimal modifications to the circuit boards and the case so it's all reversible if I ever decide to put it back to 35 Mhz use.

Only thing I discovered was you have to watch for the letters DSSS and FHSS. Turns out that the receiver I bought and put the link to in this thread, isn't compatible with my DSSS transmitter so I had to buy another one with the DSSS standard. Once I had that it connected and worked instantly.

If anyone needs an 8 channel Corona FHSS receiver, never used, let me know.  :-)
