Motor Supression
(1/1)
OneBladeMissing:
Can anyone tell me the requirements for supressing Graupner 700 motors? Size, type, and number of capacitors, and how they should be connected?
ukengineman:
I use speed 700's in a number of boats and would recommend using three 0.1 microfarad (uF) 50V disc ceramic capacitors in a delta configuration. That is one across the terminals and one from each terminal to the case. Keep the leads as short as possible. To solder to the case first prepare the spot by rubbing with glass paper and then tin using an iron of at least 40W rating. Then solder the capacitor lead to the tinned spot.

Fast Electricals:
Most of the 700BB motors should be internally suppressed, but there is no harm in adding additional suppression components. If you are using a forward only ESC a Schottky diode will also help. For more information see this link.
