Mark it was the annual model-boat-show of a club ... it was held in a outdoor swimming pool(s). One pool for the slow models and one for the racing boats.

Just a quick question:
The CM is running on two 12V Motors (Igarachi 3657-050, 10-14V, rated voltage 12VDC, noload current 0.25A, load current max. 1.6A, noload 8000rpm) each connected to a 6V/9Ah lead/acid battery. On full speed the CM is about on the right speed but if there is some wind/waves she'll have problems .... more power is needed.

I ordered 2 motors (Igarachi SP3657-030, 3-14V, rated voltage 7.2VDC, noload current 1.6A, load current max. 8A, noload 10500rpm) they will run on the same 6V/9Ah battery.
I hope they will make my CM a little bit faster.
I am right or not?

That's about a 25% increase in unloaded speed so it should give you a little more speed.
If the existing motors are not getting warm in use then another option might be to go for the next size up props.

Thanks for the info.
Motors and ESCs are always cool.
Can't go for bigger props as the space is limited to max. 35mm props.

A lot more than 25% surely.

Danielle, a diffferent solution, up-grade the battery to 12v this would increse the revs and give a little more tourque. Would your ESC allow that?

No the ESCs do not like 12V even if they should handle 12V .... Graupner Navy VR15 ....
Thats why I switched from 12 to 6V....

Thanks a lot Mike.
The real test will be when we are lucky and have a nice day with wind and waves at on of the lakes we can visit with the CM. Murky water, waves and the video/fotoequipment ready ... thats why I built it ... to make pictures just they do in real live.

Replaced the 12V Motors with some 7.2V much more power for bad weather conditions!
I also relocated the on/off switches for the ESCs. Both can be switched from the outside of the CM without opening a hatch or taking of something.
A test in the bathtub was successful and I hope to take her to a nice lake soon to take some better pictures.

hiya,

Do you then run these on 12 volts.  I have a batch of 7.2 volt motors I was planning to try on a 12 volts supply.  (not flat out, I may add)

I wondered if it did them any harm.

No Ken..... If I remember correctly she mentioned in an earlier post that the motors were running on 6V Lead acid batteries
