Missyd I have been following your thread on this forum over the last few days and must say that it is without doubt one of the finest models I have ever seen, and I don't mean one of the finest model boats I mean its one of the finest model anything I have seen. Well done its superb.

I am no photographer but I think that if you photograph the model with the camera at water level looking up at the front of the boat and the front of the ship in focus and background (or even the back of the ship) out of focus it will be very hard to tell it from the real ship.

I would be tempted to pay a professional photographer to photograph it if I had something that looks as realistic as that. I look forward to your next model..... well done again....   U2

Have you sent a link to the build & pics to the CM website? I'm sure they would be pleased to see your hard work :)

Thank you very much for your big compliments! I am speechless by all the positive replies from so many!

I have sent pictures of my CM to Josh Harris (no reply) an Casey McMagnus (liked my model but for him it was to much weathered) ... all other internet pages or facebook pages are not run by the CM Crew itself ...

Hi Danielle

At this time of year they may be on the Salmon fishing as a tender boat like last year, DC showed they were very busy, might not have time to reply or to tired.

... more work to be done on my Cornelia Marie.
There was too much water entering the hull via the openings on deck and so I decided to do everything new.

Redid the whole thing and now there are 2 rows of rubber sealing to keep the water out.

Brilliant props, have used them for years, look so good in the shiny brass finish, almost to good to put in the water

I've just bought one of these props (40mm 3 blade though) and the finish is gorgeous. My intention is that my build will be something I can put on the shelf and admire as well as use, and if the components available are consistently this high in quality I may just be able to achieve it.

Really impressed with the Cornelia Marie, great looking ship.

Thanks a lot! Yes they are the best quality avaiable at the moment. I also like the loog of them ... the CM sits high on a bookshalf and so you see the props very good.

New props are on and everything ready for the next outing on the Bering sea .... :}

Then I filled up the spaces in the hull with foam rubber .... now no more problems with splashing water in the hull.

She looks great with the new props, Dannielle

You probably have something similar already, but just in case. I carry in my tool box one of those trigger sprayer gadgets you get with domestic products, minus the bottle of course ! If you can find a length of tubing to replace th short bit fitted so much the better for getting into far corners of the hull and squirt any ingress back where it belongs !

You're welcome all. I would like to preen myself and say it was my idea, but in fact it was a tip from a fellow member years ago in the South Shields model boat club  :-))

The rust is made with acrylic paint from the craft shop ... it has to be matte (dull) and never ever make the color thinner by adding fluid. Stir the paint well and off you go ... different shades of browns can be used. After 2-3 irregular layers over the original color (also Acrylic) the rust is perfect.
