Droning the Towboats
« on: May 06, 2017, 09:58:52 am »

Hi all, I have a yet to be completed Dumas American Beauty Tow boat kit.  I decided to go on to You Tube and look for some inspiration.  I found some really excellent HD videos of not only American Beauty but also the sister ship Crimson Glory.  I hate to use the much abused word 'stunning' but that is appropriate here.

The filming is perfect for modellers, long sequences and all detail from above and all around.
This then leads you on to life on board etc.
There are sequences of going through the locks on the Mississippi river which are 86 feet wide, It was mentioned that the tows were 84 feet wide so not much room!  This was from subsequent videos.
I leave you with a starter and then just follow on with associated videos.

Best use of a drone I have seen, I do recommend viewing the first one, American Beauty.  Try and avoid  the 10 videos on building the kit, they makes you want to shout at the screen!

Best regards Roy
