Hi Jason, It's been a while, life's been pretty hectic lately' I have been doing a bit of work on my 14ft tug and I also started another model for this same client plus I'm studying CAD one day a week to get my formal qualifications which I'm finding a bit mindnumbing compared to what I can achieve with CorelDraw.

Mermod.......when we think of the scale of 1:20....depending on the glasses of red wine  {-) I see two calculations

A. 4Kg (20*20) = 1600 Kg
B. 20Kg (20*20) = 8000 Kg....which has suffered material yield in shear >>:-(.....

These later two kg values would relate to bollard pull..........

From this I think the latter is pretty realistic...........

1. My only thought would be to replace the [Grade?] brass pins with AISI Grade 316 stainless material which has some 1.3 times the yield over the brass
2. Increase the pin sizing

Keep us posted with your progress......Derek

Started working out and test fitting the engine/motor mounts today.
Have I mentioned lately just how much I love my laser :)

The next one showns the motors sitting a little high but a bit of a trim and I will be spot on.

Hi Martin, It's a marine 2 part glue called megapoxy or epox-e-glue, sticks anything to everything and sets hard as a rock, if there's something you wouldn't ever think of glueing this stuff will do it.

Laser cut very slowly and on very low power, this one took 3 passes.

Mermod,
Is the megapoxy only available at Marine specialists or elsewhere???

It's available down here at "The Fibreglass Shop" in Hobart or from Boatcraft Pacific, both places have online shops, so yes only marine places.

We have had some fine weather down here lately so I managed to get the final coat of red on the hull and mount the anodes.

Hello Tim, I'm glad you're enjoying it, I haven't put any updates on here as I have been having computer issues but I will try and get some new pics up soon, the finish date is February next year so I have to get a move on :)

Thanks for the reply Phil, I will diligently stay tuned ~
I've got a little MMM Stan made by a Good friend in the UK, but I wish the one you are crafting here was available in kit form !
Unprecedented detail, all the way down to the 3 dimensional hull markings...

Todays job was handrails and ladder on the wheelhouse, also backfilled the engraving on the escape hatches to make em stand out.
