Issue with speed controller and motor.
« on: April 04, 2013, 07:21:17 pm »

Hi guys, got a problem with a ESC that came with a boat. When you plug it all in to the RX and turn on the power the RX goes green, great. When I then turn on the TX all is well regarding the rudder, it moved left and right and trims just fine, but the left stick on the TX has no effect on the motor. I sourced a slightly dodgy wire so thought it was that, seems not. A direct power from a battery to the motor works fine, I thought the motor might be kaput so tried this first-all well. So am a little stumped. No idea as to the make of the ESC, no markings. So is there something wrong with my TX or RX or both, both work okay on my other boat. Or could the ESC be knackered? Any help apprciated guys. Also, just to add, if I do need a new ESC which is best as the motor is a Decaperm 12v max 3.5A.

Seeing what you have there,... I'd just go get a new ESC.  %)
Those little blue boxes were good for fast, and faster. Not much use in maneuvering.

Verify that the throttle channel is working, it runs the rudder servo also yes?

The transmitter should be turned on first Center the throttle stick.
Then power up the receiver. When it settles, run the throttle stick up to full forward, then center, then
full reverse, then center.  That is supposed to program that ESC.

If that doesn't get the blue ESC running, I am not sure what will.

Just checked it as you suggested and it fired up, will leave it a while and then try again. Hopefully this has sorted it but you never know.
Thanks again for your help, much appriciated.
