Hi All

Reading the "wood care" threads and Stavros' paint tutorial  I get the idea about how to apply either / or any of the above

I have decided that :

The inside of the Hull will be resin coated - with which variety - I'm not sure  - for waterproofing

I may decide to stain the upper half of the outer  Hull - which must be done before either varnish or resin

But as I think there is too much historic damage below the waterline , and to protect myself and my kids from
the lead ballast and the H&S police (Mrs BB!)  I will need to paint the lower half of the outer hull and to seal the ballast.

But what to do when ?

Im guessing:

Filler first ,

Stain upper hull

primer lower outer hull

paint lower outer hull

sand, sand ,sand again down the grades the paintwork

and polish lower hull

but after painting the lower half of the hull can I put resin over paint ? or is it a no-no requiring just coat upon coat of varnish please ?

I'd like the upper part of the outer hull to have that deep glossy look.

Meanwhile, here's a pic of the hull stripping so far . If any wood experts can identify the
wood type I'd be most grateful !

regards

BB
