Will do but I'm only in Anstruther when the lure of the Anstruther Famous Chippy gets too strong to resist. However, I'll look out for her.

Last year on holiday in Pittenweem we tried the 'World Famous Chippie
Rubbish compared to most chippies in fishing ports like Grimsby,Hull,Fleetwood,Milford Haven
et all. Haddock and chips in a cardboard box  No thanks. <*< <*<

Ah well, if the only fish suppers you have had were in the likes of Grimsby etc. where soggy batter and limp chips are favoured, you wouldn't appreciate a decent chippie.  :P

Lighten up Barry, the World did not end today & it is not looking likely it will happen tomorrow either, so relax, if necessary take a pill, Mick B.

No need to lighten up - or take a pill - just wondering why people can't stick to the subject of the thread without wandering off down a sidetrack which has no relevance. After all, if you want to debate seafood, then you are fully entitled to start your own thread under another heading. It has advantages for somebody doing research at a later date if a subject heading is relative to the content and does not bog them down in extraneous comments. A matter of courtesy, no more.

Topic split.  :-X

Of course, the best Fish and chip shops are:
Werrington's, Peterborough, Best quality bar none!
Fishers, Hunstanton ( not actually on quality but by location & occasion!)
The old Queens Crescent Market Chippy, Hampstead, London.

Sometimes when we take a stroll down another path & while discussing certain aspects of an issue we stumble into another aspect of life that opens a complete set of new doors. We should at every opportunity be broad minded enough to see the topic change as generally a positive thing where we gain another bit of information that we did not have before. Fish & chips may not be the pinnacle of discussion & indeed for the thread "owner"a step he/she would not rather have. I follow all lifeboat threads if possible & was following this particular thread too. Apart from learning a little bit more about a lifeboat I also discovered that in New Zealand anyway you get one great meal if you order fish & chips & in the end what could be wrong in that information, as an afterthought nobody anywhere match the British for fish & chips, & yes I have eaten them out of the News of the World or the Sun, Mick B.

Try Whitby on the Yorkshire coast. Oodles of great fish and chips , including the world famous Magpie Cafe, You can eat there while looking across to the lifeboat Station.

What I like about Neil's threads is that occasionally they do wander far and wide. Yet the build is never far away because Neil's work rate far exceeds our ability to gab. The next episode is always imminent.

.... and yes Ned I was also once a British Rail (Thermit) welder and notable pie destroyer.
