« on: April 16, 2013, 02:33:01 pm »

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know where I can get spare props for my Super Mono X ? Ripmax are out of stock until July,

Hi John,

Judging by the pictures it's a standard dogdrive prop, the only thing you need to know is the internal diameter of the hole (aka the diameter of the propshaft).
If you can tell us that, we most likely can come up with a number of potential suppliers for a 30 mm 1,4 pitch prop.

Regards, Jan.

Hi John,

You used a pair of calipers, right?
And it is Ø3 mm, not 3,17mm (1/8")?
Sorry for the extra questions, but props for 1/8" shafts are much more common, like these:
http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/products.php?cat=119

Hobbyking has a few for a 3 mm shaft:

I'm sure others will chime in too.

Regards, Jan.

Thanks Jan. Yes, I am afraid it is exactly 3mm. As you said it is dog drive. Some of these adds don't specify what the drive is and the pictures often don't show it . How do you know what sort of drive it is ?

Hi John,

I just realized that in both links the front end of the props can't be seen, what you can see is the smooth hole in the props, no thread, so there has to be a dogdrive counterpart on the front, or it'll slip on your propshaft...

As most plastic props are quite soft, you could try this one and give it a good squeeze between the dogdrive and the nut, center it as good as possible, or make a piece of brass pipe fit between in the prop with a Ø3 mm inside hole:

If I'm not mistaken, this one should fit without modifications:
