visiting Oz
« on: April 16, 2013, 08:17:27 pm »

Hi to our antipodean friends!  I shall be visiting my son who lives a bit north of Sydney in Woy Woy.  His partner is a (lady) doctor in the hospital at / near Cosford.

I shall be there for the month of May and pleased to visit any model boat gatherings in the vicinity.

I have been to see him once before but did not have time to get around to model boats as we were sight seeing etc.  This time I am on my own (wife staying behind to visit later in the year) so I get to decide what to do!

I am a club Secretary and interested in how other clubs are run.
regards Roy

Hullo roycv
The largest model marine club in Sydney is the St George Model Boat Club ....... O0
SSMBC meet at Scarborough Park, Barton Street Monterey each Sunday morning .......their meeting ground/lake is literally a 10 minute drive south from Mascot airport where you will be arriving & naturally as you know, the Gosford/Woy Woy area is about 50 minutes north of Sydney by car [depending on the traffic  >>:-( ]
I will get their WEB site detail for you....[I am not yet a member]....... I will be interstate [Adelaide] for approx. 3 weeks this coming May..................
We have a few Mayhem members on the eastern seaboard of NSW so hopefully another may also be in contact.......I hope you enjoy your visit to OZ......Derek
Here is an image from Flight Tracker ,,,,[the PC mouse hand is located on Monterey] you can see the proximity to Mascot, although GOOGLE earth will provide the same........

Derek,

He will most likely also be within striking distance to Newcastle and their model clubs.

Hi, thanks for the replies, most appreciated. I found the St. George model boat club and will visit.  I was intrigued by the battle fleets and BB guns.

If you do get to the St George club you must look up my good friend David Glasson, a real genuine guy that really loves the hobby, just tell him Phill from Tassie sent ya :-))

Hi all, I was expecting to visit St. Georges model boat club on Sunday but my plans have (been) changed and now going for a long weekend to Great Barrier Reef for some snorkeling.  I do hope I can do some visiting before I leave at the end of the month.
Kind regards to those who graciously offered invitations.
