Looking for a 2.4 set
« on: April 16, 2013, 11:12:30 pm »

Looking for a good deal on a 2.4 set.

I am looking for the following:

  • A transmitter that can retain a model memory for set up between models
  • End play adjustment for servos
  • Reversal facilities.

In a addition I am looking for receivers which will not break the bank.

Look for a Spektrum DX6i
Does it all and compatible
Orange receivers are as cheap as you'll get.

I have looked at the hobbyking site but must admit I find the site hard going.
Do I pay in $ or £ does the transmitter come from a UK store or one further afield?

At the bottom left of the site there is option to change currency to £ and if goods are available from the uk warehouse they automatically give you the option to purchase from the uk.
Payement is in honk kong dollars no matter which warehouse you purchase from

turnigy is from america on hobbylobby. I have put the question to them as to whether they will stock it in the uk warehouse. And i was informed that they will be. They are going to stock everything they stock in the china warehouse in uk warehouse aswell.
However when this will be i do not know. I am also looking at the turnigy 9x but i can wait as i currently do not have a complete boat to use it,

Be careful with the 9x there have been some quality issues with the soldering,  Serveral people have commented on poor soldering within the unit and on connectivity issues with the battery box. Not sure if these have been addressed.

Yes you are correct essex2 when these sets were first released there was a number of problems with them as they could'nt keep up with the demand  and I think corners were cut .I know of a number of fellow boaters that have purchased this set without any problems within the last year so hopefully all faults have been fixed .I would agree about the battery box that comes with set being of poor quality but I simply changed it for one of lipo battery' s they now sell for transmitters .

I've recently got a Tamco/FMS 6 channel radio set for my various models.

Decent radio for the price and receivers are only £15 which makes things very useful for model to model use.
Radio set can be bought at howesmodels along with separate Rx
