Clyde model boats
« on: April 22, 2013, 04:21:46 pm »

Hi All

I am new to marine modelling and am looking for something different to build, I was wondering if Clyde Model boats are any good, I had a chat at two clubs in Glasgow and the members said bad things about the service etc. I would love to build a paddle steamer, the problem is getting good paddles. Can I please have the benifit of your experience with dealing with this company.  There is a Fab Lab open AT THE LIGHTHOUSE in Glasgow that has all the same facilities for water cutting and laser cutting, 3D routing etc would it be better to make my own? Anybody can now make just about anything if they have a drawing. Model making is so much easier today than 10 years ago. Thanks in advance. Tam

Here is how i make my paddle wheels. If no lathe is available tube with washes soldered on the ends will do for the hub.

Thanks for the replies, I was more interested in your views of the company Clyde model boats based in Torrance near Glasgow as I could spend some serious money, I do not want to end up with a bad experience. <*<
