WHO MADE IT??????
« on: April 27, 2013, 12:47:10 pm »

.12.35 hours, Sat, 27th April,        Just started watching an old Midsommer murders (Which you can catch on channel 33 in an hour) and in the opening shots before the titles, a chap is wandering around a minature village with a harbour............and on the Lifeboat slip is a nice 1:12 scale ( i presume) Liverpool class lifeboat ready to launch.

Does anyone recognise or know where the minature village is please, (town or actual place) or who made the  model lifeboat........it looks familiar.

Is it Bekonscot in Beaconsfield.
The series were filmed in the locality
They have a fishing village with a lifeboat house

Guy Bagley would probably know.

Hi Niel:
There is a listing of filmimg locations at http://midsomermurders.org/locationsindex.htm.
The Beaconsfield area is very popular, so the model village is almost certainly Bekonscot Model Village.

On their home page slide show is a lifeboat on a slipway that looks very much like a Liverpool Class.

I've just searched google for photos of 'Bekonscot model village lifeboat' and saw a shot of the stern, she's more like a 35'6" self righter than a Liverpool. Other photos showing the boat show it's just a generic lifeboat model, not necessarily a specific class or boat. But definitely not a Liverpool.

I agree Andrew.
If it looks like a lifeboat then it is a lifeboat.
That's what the modeller has depicted.

A little while since this thread was started, but I have just visited Bekonscot model village, and as proof that this was indeed the lifeboat Neil asked about regarding the Midsommer Murders Episode, here is a photo of me in that lifeboat.  The scale RNLI staff were happy to launch the boat whilst I was aboard.
