F4TCT,
Dan this argument could go on forever, but tell me this please, where in Whitby or anywhere in North Yorkshire, and yes in my area (Cornwall) could you get such cheap and cheerful accomodation. We aim to stay in your area(again) this year and we have to pay WAY above those rates for a self catering caravan on one of the cheaper sites.? :o :o :o :o :o :o

Don't disagree with you, although I am in the process of establishing a holiday let, so if you ever want to stay, drop me a pm. Pitch your caravan on my drive if you want.

There is cheaper accommodation in Blackpool and of a better quality, I know because I've stayed in them. Thought I would try the norbreck for ease - looks posh on the outside, ample parking, nice views of the sea etc....

Few other places I've seen are a disgrace also, just get the feeling that the majority of the landlords and land lady's refuse to re-invest into theirs properties, despite the killing they must make. Ive been at different times of the year and the place is stowed out. Just generally get the impression no one cares.

Certainly for my own property, this is different, I do actually care about the quality and the prices to be charged will reflect this.

And if your driving your caravan, please do it at such a time to not inconvenience the thousands on the roads, nowt worse than being stuck behind one.

Anyway the main issue here is the hotel as a venue and accommodation. Any show could be bigger better, however it is what it is and I'm thankful for those that made the effort to show up.

I personally think the international one in November could be bigger and better.....

Ps. Blackpool needs more trams, I've been thinking I don't know what's worse, the trams or the London tube. The times seem so inconsistent.... That's another story though.

A few pictures that I managed to grab while it was quiet before somebody wanted me to stop enjoying myself and start working again.

I was going to go this year, however i had to flit my Mother to her new abode.

I went last year, and to be honest it was my first Blackpool show, the models were excellant and a good range of bits and bobs to get my hands on. THAT IS WHY I WENT !!!! ( not shouting  :D ) just using emphasis.

The facilities did leave a lot to be desired, i saw the prices of of the coffee and didnt go near, i smelt the toilet and thought hope i dont need a wee, luckily i didnt.

I understand the negative/constructive comments, i would like to add ( to keep it real ) as an organiser of various community events.

To hire a facility costs money, ours is a hobby to the majority, many have budgets or not a lot of spare cash. You would all moan more next year if the entry was £12 coffee £ 2.50 for a more up to date facility that didnt stink of pee. The increase of fee to traders could possible scare them away, or they would hike up the cost of items to compensate..either way you and i would pay.

I enjoyed last year, and was looking forward to this year. Im young in modelling terms my eyes are good, dont remember any issues last year with lighting.

I would prefer it was kept affordable for all even if it means giving free nose pegs and hat with a light on

 :-))

The lighting looks reasonable on your photos Malcolm.
Better than I remember from last year.

Yes, I think it was.  There was a lot of nice new LED arrays up in the Gods.  Since the camera was on "Auto" and I don't think the flash went off, they were all taken under ambient light.  Note the shadows.  Perhaps the one at the pool would have been a better shot of Ray's Bluebell if I had either set it for flash or had the presence of mind to pan after it.  Hopefully somebody else had a camera there.

I have a FUJI finepix cam & you get a better pix WITHOUT the flash on the N setting (for natural light) I'd bought some MACS MOULDINGS fittings  & wanted the colour scheme so I snapped their display in auto mode & N mode
The flash one is useless too harsh ,this ones in the N setting . . .

I got loads of items I required, had a good chat ,saw some beautiful boats
came back with lots of ideas for future projects.
Where else could you do that other than these shows.
Many thanks for all that took part in putting the show together
and took the time to trade their wares.
Also thanks to the clubs members that displayed & sailed their boats.

The visitors from down south (Jersey} once again enjoyed the show, overspent as usual stocking up with bits and pieces, 3 new model kits are on the way as well.     It was a bit disappointing to see the empty tables,  not just for visitors but for the organisers of the show also.   A great show but maybe should be better supported by the clubs.  If it were possible and affordable I am sure our club would be there. :-))

Hi Mick

Well I will introduce myself next show we attend. Speaking of Irishcarguy in Canada raises another point re the show. Lots of guys never get the chance to enjoy all that our shows have to offer. I don't think Mick would care a fig that the lighting was poor; if only he could just get to a show and meet all you Mayhemmers ..... and buy those bits we all do,whether we really need them or not. %)

I have been unwell lately and mostly off Mayhem, but meeting up with people and chatting about boats again has perked me up a lot and buying a propshaft has got my Girl class tug on the table again. Though just at the moment I am waiting for a job to start .... bah humbug.
