Well I went there today for the first time, and every visitor I spoke to agreed it was dreadful. The organisers need to recognise the standard now set by the Model Boat Convention at Haydock.
Many of the display stands today were empty and the lighting
is dismal. I dispute that the show has the greatest number of clubs and traders attending, a list of the actual traders and clubs would set our minds at rest.
Apparently the entry price included a chance to win a boat; how does that work ? No-one issued the visitors with a raffle ticket and there was no-where to record my attendance and enter a draw. Will anyone win and how will they know ?
The stench in the gents toilet was a disgrace and when another guy complained to the staff about it, he was told they always smell and he should visit when the hall is busy !
A paper cup of tea was £2.00 and a limp sausage roll was also £2.00, the fish & chip shop behind the hotel had a long queue of people who were attending the show and refusing to eat there.
The models on display were, as ever, to an exceptional standard and a credit to their builders; it is a pity that they were so let down by this tired hotel which was apparently last re-furbished in the 1960s. It certainly deserves it's recent Tripadvisor rating of 69th out of the 70 Blackpool hotels reviewed. -
