We did say in the early afternoon "let there be light", and the new extra lighting lit up.  Another elderly rumour scotched, but I bet it reappears next year.
Sorry, Neil, your defects are now plain to see.  And, of course, no excuses for touching.

I tell you what I find difficult Howard ... Restaurants - none of them seem to use more than a 5watt bulb. How anyone reads the menu is beyond me.

plenty of lights on the models to light your way! After you have been in the hall for five minutes you get used to the light anyway, I have never taken any notice of it!
PS It might be a little darker tomorrow morning first thing,as I hope to clean off Neils 3 magnificent model lifeboats, and that should cause quite a cloud of dust!lol :D :D :D :embarrassed: :embarrassed: {-) {-) {-) {-)

Sorry to say I have to agree with Howard the venue is the pits  >>:-( >>:-( .The lighting has been an issue your years with no effort to put things right. As long as the punters come through the door why bother.
I have seen some nice models but the venue never has and never will do them justice.

It would not bother me if I had to wear a cap lamp to find my way around.
I just love attending these shows especially Blackpool.
If they had to install more lighting for these shows the extra cost
would reflect in the admission fee. pardon the pun
also extra Cost to the traders who I gladly thank for attending,
You can,t please everyone.

what a sad statement that the lighting is the pits. There are HUNDREDS of people here who will disagree with you.Perhaps the organiser could organise a white stick for you if you bother to come again. If I had a complaint about the show at all,it is that there are hundreds of boats here and hardly anyone is putting them on the water! The LBES team have put on two displays and even I,who have a reputation for not putting anything in the pond have done so this weekend!
Please guys,USE IT OR LOSE IT?

Showboats in ponds will get wet <*< <:( Whatever next  %%
Seriously though If someone has a decent flashgun on
their camera could we have some pictures to 'lighten' the
lives of us who can't make it this year.

well, I took some photos (yes, remembered my camera this year) of a beautiful and IMHO the best lifeboat in the show Thames Class lifeboat...stunning to say the least.

if anyone wants photos of her and there are quite a few I'll post them in the lifeboat section.....a future project for me.

Well Howard I thought you where joking. Two people had torches on one of the stands on he left as you entered but to be fair it was the position of the light so high in the hall that made your body cast a shadow on the stall you only had to pick an item up and turn round and it was fine. Most of the stalls had there own lighting where needed.

Well I went there today for the first time, and every visitor I spoke to agreed it was dreadful.  The organisers need to recognise the standard now set by the Model Boat Convention at Haydock.

Many of the display stands today were empty and the lighting is dismal.  I dispute that the show has the greatest number of clubs and traders attending, a list of the actual traders and clubs would set our minds at rest.

Apparently the entry price included a chance to win a boat; how does that work ? No-one issued the visitors with a raffle ticket and there was no-where to record my attendance and enter a draw.  Will anyone win and how will they know ?

The stench in the gents toilet was a disgrace and when another guy complained to the staff about it, he was told they always smell and he should visit when the hall is busy !

A paper cup of tea was £2.00 and a limp sausage roll was also £2.00,  the fish & chip shop behind the hotel had a long queue of people who were attending the show and refusing to eat there.

The models on display were, as ever, to an exceptional standard and a credit to their builders; it is a pity that they were so let down by this tired hotel which was apparently last re-furbished in the 1960s.  It certainly deserves it's recent Tripadvisor rating of 69th out of the 70 Blackpool hotels reviewed. -  http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g186332-d192734-Reviews-Norbreck_Castle_Hotel-Blackpool_Lancashire_England.html#REVIEWS

This show needs a new venue, because many people including me won't bother going again until it gets one.
