Doesn't appear to have much on the circuit board  ???      I wonder if a chip is underneath.

Would be nice to 'take a punt' as you put it.  A report on here could make or break the seller.    %)

Thats what i was thinking but as the wires go underneath i wonder if the messy bits are that side.

I have messaged him to see if he will do a youtube clip of the deisel sound so i can hear it before i buy so i will wait a reply . if he does ill post the link.

Probably SMD stuff on the underside with the conventional (terminals, LED, Switch) stuff on the face.
The tech spec is a bit sparse - he does say that the speaker "must not be less than 8 ohms" but doesn't trouble to say what power the device gives.  He does say that "a power amplifier may be needed" which to me translates to " a power amplifier will be needed if you want to hear it".

I had a look at his "other items" and there is some interesting stuff there, including a 5 way switch and a turret servo controller (which might also be able to work a crane or davits, maybe).  O0

My thoughts exactly, with an amplifier and a decent waterproof speaker, it's going to be at least 35 quid........

I have no experience of this particular unit, but the guys pedigree is top notch, if you want radio conversions for specific needs, he's your man. I would say worth a punt :-))

The seller also has a website - http://www.modelradioworkshop.co.uk/products - and seems genuine.

Why not contact the seller and ask him for more info, especially regarding the power output, before purchasing?

Hi all,
I have purchased some of theses sound modules they are quite good the diesel ones are simular to robbe unit but personally think are slightly better, i have also fitted the steam sound units in two of my mates caldercraft clyde puffers and sound excellent. :-))
I think they are worth the £20 and are ideal for puffers, tugs, and fishing trawlers etc...
Also as other members have mentioned the seller has other interesting units, servo extenders, switchers etc..
Hope this helps :-))
