Engine starting
« on: May 05, 2013, 09:45:10 pm »

Hi,
I have a model with a Rev Unlimited Pro Race in which does not appear to have a choke on it. (The stock and the Mid Mod version do have chokes on them.) we tried for hours to get it started and found the only way we can start it is to put a small drop of fuel directly into the cyclinder. Also, if the engine is cut via the radio the engine will re-start but if the engine stalls it will not start without putting some petrol directly into the cyclinder. We are using Super Unleaded petrol at 16-1. Are we doing something wrong or does anyone have an idea how it should start?

hi,to choke the carb, open the throttle to to about a 1/4 open, place your finger over the carb and pull the starter slowly a couple of times till finger is wet or you can smell petrol, make sure carb needles are set to right amount, ball park i would go for 1 3/4 turn out from closed on low and 1 on high, some will say to go 2 on low,or you could try 1 1/4 on low and 1 1/2 on high, any one of them will start the engine, then its just fine tuning after that, hope this helps? :-))    kurt   black magic racing %%

morning big bouy  %% %% %% ( kurt ) and when you have done all that don't forget to fit a carb needle lock so the settings don't come loose which they tend to do under vibration when the engine is running, make sure you are using Tygon petrol tubing as petro lwill dissolve silicon and cause blockages in your carb, type in Carb needle lock on ebay for a choice of needle locks, prestwich is the cheapest Cheers Scoop

Yeah but if you pull the zip tie too tight it bends the needles  O0
