What car have you seen? I like the Tamiya Mini on the shelf next to the boat.

I built the Tamiya Monte Carlo Mini a while back and liked it so much I took the radio gear back out and it's sat on my shelf ever since, far too nice to drive!  :-)

Hi Craig
I have been building a lot of re release Tamiya lately and wanted to add a Lunchbox to my collection so am looking to raise around £100.00. I have a fair few boats ill be selling on eventually around six i think as i dont run them all a lot anymore and enjoy the Tamiya builds. I also have a lovely old aerokit fire crash tender project ill be moving on too but as im new to the forum i want to follow protocol and i need to make 25 posts before i can list any of them. I purchased my mini last xmas i also have the Kyosho mini in my collection from the eighties which has a far more detailed polycarbonate shell than the Tamiya my favourite Tamiya is the sand scorcher however.

I could make you really hate me with this post but a few years ago a friend of mine came back from a car boot sale with a box of radio control parts and said he paid £10 for the lot so I gave him £10 and said thank you. Later that day I decided to look through the box and found a 99% complete sand scorcher in there including the original body shell from the 1980's

I spent a fair bit of cash replacing the wheels, tyres and a few missing parts and spent a while filling and sanding the body smooth again but now it's complete it was worth it. I have recently replaced the radio box with the re-release parts as the originals were cracked and yellow.

I also managed to get a lunchbox body shell kit from ebay a few years ago for £100 then spent another £100 on a midnight pumpkin kit as they share the same chassis. About 2 months after doing this and being very proud of completing my "new" lunch box they re-released it for half the price!  >:-o

Have fun :)

Hate not likely your Tamiya collection is awesome  :-))  fantastic bullhead  8)  i have over forty Tamiya cars myself including two sand scorchers and a lovely pair of Avantes they are all vintage though i have just started buying the re releases as i enjoy the builds. i have done countless resto,s myself on Tamiya cars and find these more rewarding than the new kits though. ill be listing the boats i have once i have posted enough comments if anyone has any Tamiya cars they want to trade im very happy to do swaps with no cash involved if anyone has any.

Chris

Excellent, Good to hear from another Tamiya collector. They are great fun to build and so well designed and thought out to simply screw together out the box.

The bullhead there is one I had as a teenager and must have covered a fair few miles around my parents garden over the years. Last year I bought all new chrome parts for it, new stickers and gave it a full restoration. Apart from a few scratches on the gear cases looks like new.

The Sand Scorcher paintwork was a tricky one and plenty of Tamiya masking tape was used for that one to stop the Halfords paints in the right places. I think one of the worst I did was a Repsol Ford Escort Cosworth with a 3 colour paint job on the inside of a clear body. I had to cutout some of the stickers then temporarily stick them in place with masking tape on the outside of the body then mask the inside so the colours stopped in the right places and off course you had to start with the darkest colour first so the final white paint stayed white and didn't go pink with the red over the top of it! Took some thinking about but looked good afterwards.

The Sand scorcher has non Tamiya reproduction stickers on it as the re-release stickers are very different to the original model. A lot of the trade names on the side are gone from the new version so maybe they lost the rights to use them?

I have a few cars now but not quite 40! Bullhead, Sand Scorcher, Lunchbox, Midnight Pumpkin, Hotshot, Grasshopper, Madbull, Repsol Escort, Monte Carlo Mini, Xanavi Nismo Skyline, and a Volvo 850 touring car. Most are now shelf queens but hold lots of memories. :)

These are the only other 2 I have in the house at the moment, Could never quite bring myself to cut the body mount pillars down!

That mini is awesome i love the detailing  :-))

I know what you mean about the scorcher paintjob it took me three efforts before i got my first one right and i had to strip the old paint off every time  <:( <:( <:(  if you ever part with yours im your man (left or right kidney  :} )

I have been out today at my local boating lake in New Brighton to run one of my more recent boats for her maiden voyage  before i put her up for trade or sale it was horrendously windy at the lake but i managed to do a few laps without sinking her and i wanted to test out my new 2.4ghz radio i purchased cheaply. Its a cabin cruiser new built needs just the detailing finishing on her but she looks magnificent out on the water. It reminds me of one of the sixties type Aerokit models for some reason. She performs very well is fitted with a Jamara 600 motor which makes her shift quite well  %%

pics on this link if your interested i have removed the receiver and speed controller as she will go without these eventually but she has a 27mhz handset with her so she only needs a receiver and esc of the new owners choice she really is a beauty.

Speaking of old Aerokit models i was digging around in my fathers garage a week ago and found these old plans do you think they are worth keeping and would they be of use to anyone?

they are very old yellowed and starting to break apart but they are still excellent to look at
