I've no idea of where the picture was taken from or the place, I would suggest though, that it somewhere in the Far East judging by the murk.

Not China even though one of their dialects is close to some of the Chinese ones, it's a country that not that many tourists choose to visit.

Venice to Shanghai where the Yangtze river ends up in the ocean is 8900km

Venice to this destination is approx. 9500km

Hong Kong one of my favourites to visit as so many others so nope it's way more down south

North Korea great choice by I'll never be allowed in there due to my travel history in South Korea and the US, Korean is way of from the Chinese language  and again  it's way more down south

The island where this picture has been taken is a multi culture area and they have a little China, little India and it is know by the art on the walls etc. it belongs to a country  where a big camera brand has its products produced and they drive in the "wrong" side of the road seen from my point of view.

Almost there, just the wrong island, it is take at Chew Jettty Penang in Malaysia, and I did test the the second picture and I was able to locate it via a picture search  (hmmm maybe because I have uploaded it to another site and is the owner of the pic)
