I usually allow for 15 amps per motor.  I have run tests using an Amp meter when truing up the prop shaft until I get the lowest reading. On average cruise the 500 type motor takes under 5 amps anyway. It's only mad acceleration that bumps this figure up.

Hope this helps

I've a pair of Mtroniks 15 ESC's on my 46 inch tug, dual 3 blade 2 1/2 inch props and pair of pitman 6:1 geared motors.

Lost the paper work for them, but supplier thinks they are about 5 amps each, so plenty of spare

Been impressed with the mtroniks (viper) ESC - easy set up, totally waterproof. I know others like Action, but I ditched mine after persistent issues that I couldn't get fixed. Vipers really are just plug and play

its just the price of the vipers  {:-{
they are $85 for 25 over here
and you can only get them from the UK on ebay and then the postage is a killer

Someone is making a killing at that price. CMB list the Viper 25 @ about £32 incl VAT. Take off the VAT (Not due on exports to Oz) and add First Class Insured Airmail and you arrive at about £35.50. This converts to A$58, and is perhaps the most expensive way of importing goods i.e. at UK retail price, one at a time and by high-cost carrier. Any reasonable trader buying say twenty five at a time from the manufacturer could probably halve that cost.
Looks like an opening for someone in Australia? BTW an ACTion P80 20A ESC will cost about A$65 direct from Component Shop, and that's sent by registered airmail.

Chris_Suffolk
When and where did you send your ACTion ESCs for repair? I don't seem to have any record of them here.

There is a thread on here about 'Blue' ESC's.
The bottom line was to give them the flick for anything over about 10 amps.
Need to find the thread and check if they are the same ESC.

Have a couple still left, they are only good for about 10amps nowwhere near 110 amps.

Blew at least two in quick succession on a fast electric boat for my son.
In the end I used a Tamiya manual wiper speed control which worked well.

Didn't have a spare Action or Electronise ESC at the time, nor did I know about the thread on here which would have saved me the pain at the time.
