The 5th ship of the class - CCGS G. Peddle - was accepted by the CCG on Friday. The 8th ship - CCGS M Charles - was reportedly almost ready for painting on Sept. 11. It's a 9-ship class, and as soon as #9 is launched, the 'Module Shop' assembly building will be torn down; part of an upgrade for the yard. Source: http://blog.halifaxshippingnews.ca/

Does that yellow circle with the X in it indicate the eventual location of a .50-calibre machine gun? :o
Until then, I suppose that those big POLICE signs on these ships will terrify the 'bad guys' into surrendering. :police:

The yellow X is, I believe, a helo drop target. The black rings just forward are for mounting the proposed machine guns. The CCG is a civilian organization, and there are issues (political?) with arming their units. That's why they embed police units for interdiction work. The police have their own berths and operate the boats.

Ah, yes, the weapon mounts show up very well in that last photo! Thanks!

'Political' issues? I could discuss that topic for weeks-on-end >>:-( , but MBM isn't the right place. :police:

3D printing a bit off topic
In this months PBO (Practical Boat Owner November) there is an article about 3Dprinting ,this guy made his own .At the end of the article the are links to sites that he used.He has made parts for his real yacht. Thought this to be of interest to the electroniclly minded ,

Now that I've thought about it, I realize that the CCG/RCMP manning makes good sense. The RCN would have a crew about 3x the size of the CCG crew, so that's a cost saving.
