Propellors
« on: June 13, 2013, 09:43:33 pm »

Hi all,

Firstly hello as this is my first post

Have a boat with no propellors and need to get some either made or find some that fit,

Not sure if anyone can point me in the right direction, albeit I know very little of model boats,

It's a bait boat and can't find anyone who supplies replacement parts

Kind regards

You will need to measure the diameter of the shafts first to determine the correct thread.

Thanks Bob, will verneay it and find out although it looks very thin with a thread on it

Curious as if say it has an m4 thread what stops it unscrewing itself when in reverse?

It should have a locknut which tightens on to the prop boss or even just threadlock.

Not usually but you can pick up an M4 nut easily, opt for brass whenever possible!

Hi

Right measured the threaded shaft and its an m3 fit and the hole the propellor goes inside is just under 50mm - all seems a bit under powered for size of boat,

Anyway anyone know where I can source propellors to fit? As can only find m4 at the moment

Cheers

Something cheap but effective
https://www.rcspares.uk.com/rc/product/diecast-model-kits-wooden-models-boat-fittings-billing-boats/propellor-40mm-m3-right

Slightly more expensive but well worth the money (I use these on most of my boats)http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/m3-raboesch.html

or something bespoke
http://www.prop-shop.co.uk/index.php?id=37&section=services&sub_section=products&product_type=37
Drop them an email stating what you need and they will be happy to recommend something suitable or make you your own custom prop

Any chance you could give us more info on the boat, even some pics if possible it will make it much easier for us to advise on the correct prop for the job

Ah yes Amerang is/was the UK importer for Billing boats.
I just realised I may well have the BB prop in my bits box :) Stepson has a BB white star and we upgraded it to a brass prop.  It's been used but isnt damaged

On a slight tangent I also am looking at changing the gearing cogs (if that makes sense) as currently they are plastic and a bit noisy when running, is this possible?

Might help If I posta pic
