25' PUSH BOAT
« on: June 25, 2013, 04:46:25 am »

Hello out there,

Thought I'd share my latest project; a 25' push boat in 1/12th scale. The fiberglass hull came from Chuck Steffen through the Wisconsin Scale Model Boaters Association. The hull is designed to be a larger prototype in a smaller scale with twin props, but my favorite scale is 1/12th. I didn't use the supplied deck, as the cutout area didn't match what I had in mind. The deck, pilot house, and push knees are all "Lexan" polycarbonate acrylic, with the rest of the fittings coming from the spare parts box. Power is a 12V Johnson motor, with a Robbe 40mm prop, and kort nozzle. Steering is with one rudder. with a Specktrum 2.4 radio for control. ! also have a harbor Models diesel engine sound unit with a ships bell, and 2 different horns. The hull is 25 1/2" X 10" X 4".  Overall the boat runs well. Hope you all like this quick project.

Lovely little model Mark.
I love all kinds of push boats
and have built two springers.
A larger version might be a future project.

Ned,

Thanks. I have a started 1/6th scale springer hull (72" x 36"), but have second thoughts about it, the finished weight scares me  :o . I do enjoy building all types of tug/work boats.

A 72" Springer, no need to worry about the weight, just ride it yourself and become the ballast!.

Ned,

I've seen pic's of Arrow's springer; loved it/scared me  %% . Thought I'd give it a go, but haven't touched it in a while.
