New York (near Canada)
« on: July 16, 2013, 03:49:38 pm »

Hi

I am off to New York for five days in August and I wondered whe're the best model shop might be, or whether any museums have a good model ship collection? Anything to help escape the wifes intended 5 x 23 hour shopping sprees would really be most welcome  <:(  Jenny collects shoes and handbags like I collect prescription meds {-)

Then we are flying up to Calgary where Irishcarguy (Mick) has promised to Bbq everything in sight  O0

Regards Dave

Not a model shop, but you might like to consider visiting the USS Intrepid preserved aircraft carrier which is moored at one of the Manhattan piers. They have a Concorde alongside on the Quay as well! http://www.intrepidmuseum.org/
I really enjoyed our quick visit a couple of years ago.

I think you are here for 17 days give or take a day. New York is not a patch on the wild open spaces you are about to find yourself in, we will be painting the the town red & everything else too. I am sure that Dave will give a blow by blow account when he & Jenny return home for a rest. It will be terrific having a person & a forum member here for a stay. John (oldiron) beat Dave by a month or two. Phyllis & I are all excited too. YAA HOO.( standard Calgary greeting & White hat greeters at the Airport too, a Cowboy tradition.  Mick B.
