A TEAM BOATYARDS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT
« on: July 04, 2013, 10:26:53 pm »

On Saturday 13th July 2013 at 10.00am A Team Boatyard will be attempting a world record for the longest distance travelled in 24 hours with a remote controlled model boat.
We will be holding this event at Grays Thurrock Model Boat Clubs water, Belhus Woods Country Park (postcode RM15 4XJ).
This attempt will end at 10.00am on Sunday 14th July.
We are holding this event to raise money for charity. We have some fantastic raffle prizes up for grabs.
Immediately after the world record attempt Grays Thurrock Model Boat Club will be holding their annual Club Open and Navy Day.
Please come along and show your support.
A Team Boatyard would like to thank everyone at Belhus Woods Country Park and Grays Thurrock Model Boat Club for allowing us to hold this event at their water
kind regards

Hi Debbie @ATB

Can you expand a little more on what you are doing please - in particular, is it a Remote Controlled or a Radio Controlled model attempt, and what are the specifics of the record that you intend to beat?

Hi Andy,

Thank you for your reply.
I apologise for the lack of details given.
What we are intending to do is try to break the record for the furthest distance travelled by a radio controlled model boat in 24 hours.
This stands at 121 miles and was set back in 2001.
We attempted it last year but had to give up after 10 hours and 66 miles covered because of a serious debris issue and consequently we broke the couplings on the boat. Obviously because of the heavy rain we had before hand it put a lot of rubbish into the lake. During the day there was a breeze and that was holding all of the debris at the side of the lake. The wind dropped about 6pm and all of the rubbish moved down the lake and into the path of the model.
We are doing this event to raise money for charity.
kind regards

I wish you the best of luck and hope you are successful in your attempt to break the record. Is the attempt to be done non stop or are you expecting to have battery changes? I feel sure you can do this and I am already wondering what the team will attempt next? Alan

Best of luck on the attempt Debbs & Al, hope the weather and good luck
are with you. 121 miles in 24hrs = average of 5 miles an hour to equal it.
I must admit you guys are up for a challenge, wonder what you will be
up to next. :-))

Hi Gazou,
To register the record you go to Gunniess World Record.
There is no specified type of boat.
We do not think there are any International Regulations.
If you apply to Guinness they will send you a set of rules which you must adhere to.
The record is 121 land miles.
kind regards
Debbie and Alan
