Paint fade ??
« on: July 19, 2013, 07:53:59 pm »

Here's one for Stavros but feel free to answer.

I am painting plastic with aerosol yellow and have noticed a shade change in the colour between yesterdays job and today's.  The colour has faded to a weaker yellow today and I wondered how this could be as it's the same can.

Clues are that today's work was left out in the 30 degree sun for the afternoon but on further thought, I wondered if it was getting to the bottom of the can that was weaker in concentration caused this.

I will try a picture in a minute to see if it shows up.

Cheers

Ken

You could both be right.  It's looking the same this morning. There is only two coats on at the moment and as the tin is getting low, I'm going to get another and chuck on on a few more coats.    :}

Looks like a difference in the opaque density of the undercoat.  Yellow is the worst colour to show this.
