What Esc ?
« on: July 29, 2013, 02:06:24 am »

What esc should i really be using in my parat tug ? The VS units are driven by graupner speed 500e motors ( i think ) . I want to run both motors from a single speed controller .
I have a couple of the Jp Marine  50 amp jobbies kicking about in my tool box . Is one of these going to be adequate ?
Thanks in advance

Graupner speed 500e motors don't take much power at all, especially in a voth unit, I would say 50A is plenty. Do they give good speed control?

I have a 20 amp ESC in my version of the Parat and have had no problems what so ever with it.
I will say that I find (and I'm sure it is recommended) that the VS units are not run at full speed when connected to 12 volt. I myself do run with a pot controlling the speed which gives me greater control over the tug when doing berthing maneuvers etc.
