Help Identifying Yacht Hull
« on: August 05, 2013, 10:14:34 am »

Hi,
I bought this hull a while ago, it is 2metres long (78 & 3/8") 355mm wide (14") and 425mm (16 & 3/4") bottom of keel to deck. Someone told me it is an 'A' class, possibly a 'Highlander' but I cannot find any info on a hull with this shape of keel. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Nige
P.S. The 'rusty bit in the bottom picture is one of 7 pieces of lead, fitted internal to the keel.

Hi Derek,
The lead itself is not rusty, but at some stage of its life the keel must have been filled with water that had rust in it (the inside of the keel is also 'rusty') I have a feeling this hull has not been used for a while and maybe sat outside with some metal slowly rotting away in the hull.

Hats off to you Ian, looks like you are 100% on the money. It also looks like I am in possession of a hull that was built by Bob Underwood.
The hull is very strong and very well made, it would be nice to know how old it is.
Thanks again and I have sent you an email.
Hope posting these photos doesn't cause offence.
