Aaaah! 2001!! One of the greatest ever and all "real" - no CGI in those days, just very clever modellers and cinematographers. And clever use of total silence, something George Lucas could have learned. They don't make them like that any more.  :((

I enjoyed Star Wars The Last Jedi but it doesn't inspire wonder and curiosity like 2001 did, and still does. Star Wars is a comic strip, 2001 a great novel.

well today I watched Those Magificent Men in their Flying Machines. brilliant film!

So did I. Love it LoL.

Back from seeing N by NW.  Fantastic showing.  I forgot there were so many funny moments Hitchcock included -I think you pick-up more when you see it big screen.  I was on the edge of my seat at the Mt Rushmore scenes (I'm not good with heights).  Nice comfy bucket seats this auditorium.  Shame the woman next to me felt she had to talk to her partner the whole way through it though.  That couple also left their rubbish lying at their seats which really annoys me but seems to be a common trait these days .............seems they expect to sit in a clean seat but can't be arsed with the effort putting their own mess in the bin on the way out!!!

Hi all, has anyone seen the documentary / film '3 Identical Strangers'?  I saw it on a long haul flight, I watched it twice.  I do not think it has been released in the UK.
If you have seen it, What did you think?

Hi all, I have just been to see the Downton Abbey film.  Bit slow to start but maybe this was me familiarising myself with the characters.  Anyway it picks up and if you liked the TV series you will enjoy it.  Looked to cost quite a lot in production.

 I would give it a 7 / 10 score.

Couldn't agree more. Contains one of my favourite movie lines.
Robert Morley remarks on the French pilot "Too much Entente and far too Cordiale!" Absolute genius!

Hi all I just watched, well the beginning anyway, of 'Atlantic Convoy' made in 1942.  I thought I would see some period shots of merchant ships etc.

It was a total letdown with toy aeroplanes and a plot that I did not get or understand and on top of it all I did not know which side the characters were on!  The uniforms were sort of anonymous.
I give it 1/10 but I am not sure why I rated it that highly.

Saw Ad Astra today. Media reviews only give 3.5 stars
It was OK but 4 stars max so fair reviews. Still worth a watch

I'm gonna save you the price of a cinema ticket here.... MIB4 ( Men in Black 4 ).......  1/2  out 10!

Embarrassing acting, infantile plot, gaping plot holes, all effects seen before , 100 times.

NB: If you thought MIN 2 was good go see it! Infants high on sugar drink will probably love it!

You would have been better off watching Joker.    I see that there is a follow on to the Shining and it's out at the end of the month, Doctor Sleep.

Watched Joker yesterday.
Personally I felt it very slow and drawn out and almost fell asleep. Clearly this is the new breed of Marvel related movies to come.
My wife actually enjoyed it.
I guess it comes down to what you expected before seeing it.

went last Friday, while in Stoke.
1. cost of ticket £6.75......wow bargain. double that where I come from!
2. too artsy fartsy
3. long and drawn out storyline with not a lot going on
4. too many shots of him smoking .. not relevant!

Saw Joker couple of weeks ago. Not my kind of film but was working away and bored so worth a shot. Didn't like it. Something very sinister about it which wasn't right and certainly not right for a batman theme, particularly the Gary glitter link. Couldn't believe it is a 15 rating!  While I was watching I couldn't work out whether the story was copied from taxi driver or American psycho. It seemed a bit famailiar. Definately 30mins too long.

The Shining is on at local Vue tonight but I won't go there now. The auditoriums are disgusting. The seats were full of rubbish and stained and smelly last few times so never again.

Just seen Joker, got to say that was a dark movie! I can see why certain political individuals don't like it. It was an excellent take on an origin movie in my opinion. Also, it makes a good lead in to the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy, being very similar in tone ( even darker..) than those films.
I liked it very much and predict an Oscar nom for Mr Phoenix.

Thoroughly good film all round and wife agreed, a surprise as she has not seen any of the earlier releases
Absolutely no comparison with the Rambo crap
