No one for Farmageddon then.

Technically brilliant and funny too. Lots of nods to the big epics. 5*

old film, "for those in peril, freeview 90.

Just wondering if anyone else viewed this old b/w film on the t/v today. Some really good scenes with air sea rescue craft and M/L's at speed, it has put me in mind to get a air sea rescue launch.

Yeah, seen it a few times , the 2651 would look great on our lake . . . specially with BRUSHLESS and LIPO'S  %%  someone was flogging a 46" one in summer but it was falling apart , wasn't worth the £160 they wanted . . .

You're thinking of the Dirk Bogarde film "The Sea Shall Not Have Them"  which was made in the fifties and used late type ASR launches.  "For those in Peril " was made in 1944 and featured 68ft Whaleback ASR Launches and starred David Farrer.

I saw Edge of Tomorrow on TV last night.  Turned on to it by chance.  Tom Cruise!  Not another hero film, but it becomes clear there is more going on and for anti Tom Cruise fans he dies many times!

It was very good and I stayed glued to it throughout, S.F. the way I like it where you have to work at it to keep up.  I give it a deserved 8/10.

Hi all, did anyone see 'Three Identical Strangers' on Ch 4 TV last night?  I mentioned it in an earlier post.

It is the best 2 hours of TV docunentary you will ever see.  It hits highs, lows, deceit, a quite incredible true story within our own time.
I give it 10 / 10.

Watched Ad Astra.... Impressive sets etc, good concept but poor story line. In the end I though, 'I don't care!' - 6/10

Bratt Pitt was good but I thought they hanged too much on him alone being, 'good enough to carry the entire film'.

JoJo Rabbit
Much more of a film than the trailer reveals. Aside from the comedy there is a lot of feeling in this.
Very worthwhile

Just back from the epic 1917

One to see but didn't hit the spot for me.
Full marks for recreating the scenery and devastation

Saw 1917 a few days ago.  I must say that I was sucked right in and felt I was walking/running alongside the soldiers the whole way.  Very clever direction and editing, and I'm sure the odd Oscar or three will be coming its way.  Would I watch it again? Not immediately, but I would in the fullness of time when my memory of it has faded a bit (about 30 minutes these days!).

Yes certainly one to watch
Continuity was lacking considering it’s a continuous film
Will loaded one 5 round clip in his Lee Enfield and fired at least 8 shots without a reload 😂

Spies in Disguise tomorrow 👍

Edit
Just googled and rifle has a 10 round mag that is topped up with 5 round clips  :-))

Have finally obtained a copy of The Cruel Sea on DVD from a rental shop going out of business - still looking for a copy of The Ship that died of Shame - both great movies not seen for a long time as we no longer have a TV - too expensive for a subscription to the local pay channel & the alternatives are not worth watching - mostly local football which is of little interest and very little else save propaganda. No Cricket or Rugby to speak of either...........

Thanks for that - problem is by the time it gets here costs a fortune mainly because of the ridiculous exchange rate plus the shipping usually costs more than the article. Funnily enough my son works for Amazon IT in Seattle but don't like asking him..........  Will have to wait until one becomes available locally - happens from time to time at the equivalent of 4.5 quid......... obtained a copy of Dunkirk fairly recently for instance at that price.
The best movie I have seen in many years was "The Worlds Fastest Indian" with Anthony Hopkins. Absolutely brilliant.........lucky to have a dvd of it........

1917 - what a great film! Love the way it starts and just gets straight into it.

If you liked Saving private Ryan, you're gonna love 1917!
