The Palamos Fishing Museum, Costa Brava
« on: August 18, 2013, 01:10:46 pm »

Hello chaps!

We've just returned from two weeks of visiting our Spanish friends; two weeks of not being able to sleep with the heat and constant nervous peering down wells to see if the water's run out yet.  It was most unpleasant......no, honestly!

Anyway, whilst there, we visited the fishing museum in Palamos and I have to say that it was excellent!

This boat was the centre piece but what I really wanted to show you were the dioramas showing how fishing boats and tackle and deployed at sea.  These tiny but detailed models were set in glass cases and suspended in three dimensions allowing you to see the whole of the setup from boat to sea bed.  They were fantastic!  I attach pictures below - one with Thing One in shot for scale.

There were more than I've shown but they were very difficult to get a good picture of.

Speaking of which, what's their feelings with regards to the "Gib" fiasco?  Looks lively today with the Fishermen having a "Day out" and the British Gib Police boats and the Caribianeri Naval mixing it?

I accept your comment Neil, but was only trying to learn what the un-media tainted feeling was on the ground.

Neil, you're old enough to know that "Politics" and "Common sense" are a total contradiction in terms.  O0
