Self Etching Primers
« on: June 09, 2007, 02:30:51 pm »

I am using lead chromate self etch primer on brass and copper and it seems to stick like **** to a blanket. Point is I would like to use it on live steam components with temperatures up to 170degC. Google has not been much help as this type of paint is non-PC.
Does anyone have experience of this type of application?
Regards,
Keith

Hi mrsgoggins.  I belong to a model engineering club and this is what they use on live steam locos.  It does not benefit in putting it on thickly just covering is enough.
good luck, Roy

Thanks for the prompt and most useful reply. it means I can get painting this weekend.
I had been warned to avoid thick coats but thanks for the thought.
