Futaba 6EX
« on: August 21, 2013, 07:30:34 pm »

I bought a Futaba 2.4 T6EX transmitter with a R617FS receiver just before the cheap 2.4s came out, it cost me an arm and a leg.  I was wondering if there is a cheaper receiver that will bind with the transmitter as I don't want to part with another one of my arms for an extra receiver.

Yes - Orange make one at least and I think there are others. Giant Shark or Hobbyking are the place to start looking. Ebay may also have some. Check for FASST compatible.

They are not as cheap as Spektrum compatibles and it looks as though FrSky is the most available.

i use three trf6 & two trf4 frsky receivers in models ranging from marbleheads to fast electrics, never has a single problem with them, except 1 that I submerged in salt water. Range has proven to be as good as Futaba receiver & I never do anything special with the rx ariel, just stuff them in the boat.

Dont really know the answer, but the tfr4 is much smaller in size. Perhaps the componets are more costly
