Models by design now have my order for the 52in Arun, I am now working my way through the list that Adam kindly put up. Now I would like to know what spray pain I would need from halfords as in the shades of orange....blue...and red for the hull.

Regards Dave.

Hi Dave , have you considered putting a build log on Mayhem? This is a very impressive model and I'm sure lots of members would like to see pics and follow your build.

Hi, yes I will do but it won't be till October as they don't carry any stock. At the time of ordering I have been told that there is a turn around of approx 30 days, so to save£40_£50 on delivery it's been agreed that I will collect it from Blackpool and this gives me time to get all the other parts needed to complete it. :-)) :-)) :-))

Hi all, can anyone tell the total amount of stanchions needed please, also if anyone has photos of the deck layout  just so I can see what paint is required for the deck fittings so I can get them painted ready.

Best regards Dave. :-)) :-))

According to Kim Belcher the Arun only requires 14 stanchions.

Hi Adam, yes mate I am going for two 850's on order from component shop, they should be here on Monday along with their power distribution board. I have been looking around for the Y boat but it seems like speedline models is the place to go, so I shall place an order with them soon.

Regards Dave.

I prefer Halfords Ford Balliol Blue for the hull which I'm informed is the same as Oxford Blue - the colour used by the RNLI. VW brilliant Orange should be used with white primer or it will look too dull despite the can instructions advising grey primer. I primed the Y boat with grey primer and it gives a completely duller colour to that on the wheelhouse which looks far more realistic that them being the same. Rover Tempest Grey for the deck over a very light coat of Rustoleum Textured paint gives a perfect textured finish. Practise this first on some scrap ply because you can very easily overdo the Rustoleum. I used Ford Polar Grey for the railings which I had mixed by Halfords.

Dave,

Just remembered models by design do the
Clyde class and a Y boat.

Perhaps Andy will produce 1 since your buying the Arun...

sorry Batfish but the rib from MBD  for the Clyde semi kit is of an early "D" class......I made the tooling for it along with the Clyde moulds myself.
It is 16.5 inches long.
