Well now at home I have given the boat a good looking over and I must say I am more than happy and would recommend models by design to anyone. All so at the show I got the crew figures from Adrian and they are  finished to a high standard, also on my list was a sound system but my mind was made up once I listened to the action p100 so impressed I got one of them......so all in all I had a good day all round. :-)) :-)) :-))

Hi all I have noticed a few blemishes in need of a bit of filler, what would be best to fill these as they are not deep.

Thinking the scale speed for a 1:12 model may be 1/12 actual speed? The maths: 20 knots = 37 km/hour divided by 12 is about 3 km/hour - a slow walking pace....

Hope that helps..?

The calculation for scale speed is not the speed of the real boat divided by the scale but but the speed of the real boat divided by the square root of the scale. As you are building a 1/12 boat the square root is 3.4641. The Arun had a top speed of 18.2 Knots so you are looking for a top speed of 5.25 knots. The motors I would recommend are the 900's but you can't get them any more but your 850's should get it something near. Are you aware that there were only 3 Arun's in the fleet that were 52 feet and had that wheelhouse design these being 52-08 52-09 and 52-10

I think they are run at 24V for the speedy guys.
Ask Stavros. He is an advocate of these motors.

Thanks Ned, you are right they seem to run them on 24 volts, but I am not after speed as this would stir the lake up and would be no good to others with small boats.

The 900 motors are spot on for your needs with the arun you can run them on 12/18/24v on 12v it will go slower then scale speed 18v more or less scale...24 v over scale speed BUT this is FLAT out....rember whe she is built it is a HEAVY boat....run 24v all the time.............think of it this way you dont drive a Ferrari flat out EVERYWHERE do you !!!!!!!
Remeber you will need to water cool them and dont BOTHER running lead acid batts in her you need 12v stick packs

Hi all, today I managed to fit the prop shafts along with the rudders. Tomorrow I shall work on getting the motors in and hopefully all the electronics from action. I have decided to go with the motors I have purchaced I give it a run and then if I am not happy it will be the brushless way  :-)) :-))
Photos coming soon ( camera battery flat )

Had a good day the motors are back in, also got the Action p100 sound system fitted everything is working just as it should. Tomorrow I shall fit the servo for the rudders and then it's just a case of preparing the hull ready for spraying.  :-))  :-))

you won't need to if the superstructure is a tight fit to the combing....the weight of the thing alone will keep it in place, and unless you going to sail in hurricane force winds you should have no problems.........never had any myself with similar structures, and Fleetwood is a windy old place at the best of times.

I think the point of latching the superstructure is being missed, if the boats knocked over/blown over the superstructure can , if attached, prevent sinking by slowing water intake , a loose item will blow off with air pressure from inside  <:(  & down it go's . . . I like to put a silicone seal around the bottom of the structure & latch it down on that aiding even more water sealing , tugs seem to suffer from water ingress thru the low deck line ? , this would be reduced with latching and a proper seal ?
