I did look at your build earlier today.

Looking great!

I will use a window seal foam tape on the cat and m4 bolts to keep the lid on and hoping it is enough to keep the water out. I dont want to tape it shut after doing all this work to get good paint on! -and then risk of pulling the paint off with the tape...

This will have Gulf racing colors when done(allready got the paint, darn expensive to get correct color mixed in spray cans...)

the not so great update... -the masking tape melted somehow the paint under it... -did everything like instructed by the paint store owner.(other then letting the paint cure 3 days instead of 1 hour he told me... crap. I did manage to fix it 97% pics of that later.

After wetsanding and clear lacquer, wetsanding and polishing

Looks better but I did not want to clear this because the black dust specs that allways find their way in :( -not too bad but from very close you can see some dust inside the clear.  -but this is ok, this is a speedboat that will get few hits Iīm sure...

Big boat but there is also alot of stuff inside.

The prop shafts are really long so I needed to make spacers between the props and nuts. -this should not be a problem?
Maiden this weekend if the weather allows.

Still not polished the paint, will do that later.

What size props are you using mate ,wouldnt worry too much about the length of that thread ,its because those shafts are made for gas props which are much bigger but as you say use some spacers, you could use some silicone tubing maybe ?.

The props in pic are 45mm .tested 45 and 51mm props, temps after 1 minute , 25-28c 😃

I guess I can try the 57mm next...

the hatch seal was worst try ever... 20sec and boat was half full with sea.

glad the electrics were fine after ri sing and drying...

test with 45mm and tAped hatch.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hI-hWAnuBc
test with 51 and taped hatch. some water was in but nothing bad.

i dont know what went wrong with the seal.

but the boat still collects water, looks like ghe stuffing tube leaks .thinking what to do. tried shrink tubing the end but no help.

looks like the flex shaft just sucks water...

Video shows yesterdays run first and todays next.

Did try today again with better cog.

https://youtu.be/tdd-e8w3wHg

After few minutes, the motors were really hot(77c after 3 minutes of cooling, forgot the temp gun to shore). Escīs cool 37c and lipos 35c

There was some smoke when I opened the hatch, but it looked like burned oil not electricity.
The new shaft seals looked a bit burned so bearing update is soon to follow (smoke visible on video.)

thinking this needs watercooled motors and bigger props since the escs were cool?  motors are salt water dunked few times so they may be going poof soon.

Gps 93kph not bad imo.

Looks to be going well Pate, maybe water cooled mounts will help the motors ,also maybe rig up the oilers on those shaft seals might help too.93 kph or 57 mph is fast considering you didnt really keep the hammer down for long due to conditions, cog more forward will help when its rough, even a little weight added forward when its choppy thats removable for when its flatter would work.

Nice video ,she still wants to get airborne maybe a touch down angle on the props needed.Did you change the cog forward yet or not Pate.
Video makes me wanna build one for me lol ,i have two brand new 4092 1600 kv inrunners i could try.
Saw a guy using similar motors in a Conquest cat and she went quite well .

Mart, I did move the batts all the way forward(completely under deck now) ,also removed the rx pack and used the escīs bec so that moved the cog a bit back .

Thinking inward props is again what makes it a bit floaty.

The boat is in winter storage now, next test in the summer 2017!

holy crapola that conquest moves!
