Author Topic: 0.12 cc nitro - submerged drive. Straight shaft or parallel flexi?  (Read 717 times)

On the face of it a straight shaft should offer less friction (more engine power to the prop)...but then some of the propeller thrust is wasted due to the shaft angle. Flexi-drive will create more friction (?) but with the prop parallel to the underside of the hull, it will be more efficient...?
I'm looking for the ideal set-up for a 0.12 Z Class OMRA boat.
With such a small engine, underwater drag/shaft diameter/drivetrain efficiency are crucial.
Any advice/ideas?

I have a .12 in a JAE rigger that does close to 55mph with a flex but's a surface drive.
You might look at Piano wire drive with bearings as an option for your setup as well.
