wood scraping
« on: September 29, 2013, 10:12:43 am »

Hi guys
Just wondering what your thoughts are on scraping deck planking as a way of finishing instead of sanding? I see that one or two have used this method in past post but does not seem to be used greatly.

Regards as always Tony

Sanding is far easier for the inexperienced. O0 O0

Scraping is less messier, as it imparts a surface finish, ready to accept the applied finishing medium.

As an aside scrapping is predominately used when French Polishing (Shellac, White or Gold) timber. :-)) :-))

Not to mention the sharpening/maintenance of various scrappers.
