Prop pitch

Hi all, I've purchased this boat off eBay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=281179149559&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123  and I want to replace the prop, it goes really well with the prop that's on the boat but I'm not what the pitch of the prop is, I know it's a 45mm with a dog key.

In answer to the original question, I think the pitch of scale boat props is usually equal or nearly equal to the diameter.  Ergo, 45 mm diameter, 45 mm pitch.  Check the Prop Shop website and other prop vendors' sites.

Thats great thank you, I'll check with the prop shop. The only reason why I want to change the prop is there are a few nasty nicks in the prop and a small bit missing.  I have used a file and done the best I can, i thought I might as well change the prop.

Hi,
I cant see the prop on the pics of the original listing, but from the description of the boat and its speed, I would suggest the prop pitch is 1.4 x the diameter. That is a common pitch ratio for fast electrics.


Try astec models, or prestwich models for advice, they both do a lot in fast electric boats

If your rpm is under approx. 32000 try the Graupner K series props. Astec sell them and I also buy them from Gliders UK.
Over that rpm you will end up throwing the blades on plastic composite props.
