X-Bow
« on: September 30, 2013, 11:11:54 am »

Hey!

Me and some friends are going to building a model of the x-bow ship. Do some of you have some drawings of these vessels? Do any of you have a model of this ship in a program like Freeship or Delftship?

Please help!
Thanks  %% :-))

Try this link by member Boatmadman. I spent an enjoyable afternoon on saturday reading it....

Ian used Delftship to design the hull seeing as there appears to be NO plans available for this hull shape. There is some input from German members and quite a few of them have built this type of ship, you could search German forums for more info.

Hope this helps.

Brian.

Tried 'googling' Ramstein X-Bow, got weird results. But, an Internet search ought to work.

Rammstein is either an old cold war airbase or more up to date a german heavy rock band. ULSTEIN is the shipbuilder

I thought Ian was working with someone to create a plug and mold for Xbow ships.

You are right Umi, I was.

There was a plug and a run of fg hulls produced, but for various reasons the project didn't progress as anticipated.

The company I was working with acquired  a different set of plans for a range of x bow type hulls, and decided, for their reasons to go with those rather than continue with our agreement.

As a result, the arrangement we had is no longer in place.

Please don't ask me who the company is, I no longer have any involvement with them and don't anticipate to.

Shame on them. I can fully understand your resentments, Ian.

To the requester,
a lines plan of an X-Bow can indeed be drawn with the mentioned hull lofting programs, a little practice provided.
A good aid for doing this might be a look into the X-Bow Patent Specifications which contains a few useful drawings.
