Thames River Fire Boat
« on: September 30, 2013, 12:37:17 pm »

While watching the coverage of the DUKW incident on the Thames I was quite taken with the Fire boat that attended.  Does anyone know where you could find either a hull drawing, plans or hull lines for these boats.  I've been able to find some pics of "Fire Dart" and "Fire Flash"
Many Thanks, Les Pickstock.

These two craft were built by Alnmaritec   who may be able to provide plans etc.    ( www.alnmaritec.co.uk )

Specification and outline drawing  ......       http://www.alnmaritec.co.uk/downloads/Wave%20Patroller.pdf

ALN 21 "FireFlash" .........  photos ....   http://www.alnmaritec.co.uk/boats/boats_library/boat_aln021.shtml

ALN 22  "FireDart"  .......  photos http://www.alnmaritec.co.uk/boats/boats_library/boat_aln022.shtml

Firedart is usually operational, while Fireflash is the reserve vessel and is normally used for training.

Hi Les, from my experiences of building models of real vessels, why not contact the London Fire Authority direct and ask them if you can physically view and visit the Fire Boat itself?   I know it is a long way toLondon but tell them that you want to build a model of their boat and see what happens.  Take lots and lots of photographs.  Good luck and let us know how you get on.  Regards Adrian

Beat me to it Adrian, that is what I did when I wanted to build a Cory Tug. I got lots of access resulting in hundreds of photos and dimensions, even a day on the Thames on it.
